Digital Camera Shopping via Internet
My cousin called me this week asking me to find the best digital camera for her. In my searching, I came across this unfamiliar site, TestFreaks.com.
The site seems pretty promising. They’re still in the beta stage at this point…and I noticed the comparison feature does not seem to be enabled yet. However, the part I found most useful about the site is that they have syndicated reviews from numerous other sites. So you have all these reviews in a single location. I found it to be quite helpful.
They have “expert reviews” that give reviews from places like zdnet.com, ephotozine.com, and pcphotomag.com. Then they have “user reviews” that have reviews from places like PriceGrabber and digtalcamera-hq.com. They also have what they call the “Freak Score” that seems to be an average of all the user reviews.
I think the site has some work to go (rightfully so since they site still says BEAT). But, I suspect we’ll see this site making headlines with some of the other big digital equipment sites.
As for the camera that I picked for my cousin, the winner was the Canon Powershot SD750. I have a Canon Powershot SD300 that we bought a few years ago. We still love the camera - it’s still going strong. Canon seems to be the best choice in this category of camera.
