Inbound Links Help Websites

Search engines enjoy websites that have inbound links. And the best way to gather inbound links is to have a useful, informative website. However, you often need to kickstart that process by seeking out links to your site. This process is called link building. Be warned, it can be a tedious process. Many site owners turn to a link building company such as Vertical Measures.

It’s no secret, the algorithms used by search engines give some hefty weight to inbound links. The more relevent the referring website, the better the inbound link.

Say you have a site about toasters linking to a site selling golf clubs…it does not give much help to the golf club site. However, a link from a golf country club website to the golf club site would be nicer. They’re both in the same business…golf.

So, you build an awesome site to sell golf clubs, and you expect buyers to bang down your door to buy the clubs. Usually, this won’t just happen. “Build it and they will come” is rarely the case anymore. You need to kickstart things. It’s more like, “Build it. Then tell lots and lots of people about it. If it’s good, they will come.”

So, you start by building a great site. The site must have good, unique information on the focus subject. Without a nice, informative site, you’ll never get links to your site. Then you contact other site owners in your niche, and ask then to check out your site and link to you. Do this often enough, and pretty soon you’ll start gathering new links that you never solicited.
